Her story

The little fellows always come first. They appear without being planned, and I have learned not to argue with them. Each one arrives in its own way, but all of them look at you. That is the part I cannot explain, and do not try to.
They carry very little, but it is enough: a mood, an amusement, a presence. Some are vivid, colourful, almost overflowing. Others are softer, plainer or more silent. People often tell me they feel looked at with kindness. I believe that is exactly it.
I paint by instinct, through trials and additions. I hardly use brushes any more. I work mostly with my fingers, knives, oil pastels, spray paint and gold leaf.
The matter is laid down in thickness, then reworked, scratched, cut through. Older layers resurface in places, revealing what lay underneath. That is how the canvas takes body: through matter, transparency and the light held in the reliefs.

Beneath it all, I look for a form of warmth. It can be radiant or discreet, appearing through humour as through silence. What remains, whatever the canvas, is a gaze that wishes you well. If a work leaves someone a little lighter than it found them, it has done what I hoped.
My practice is a free and instinctive exploration of the inner world, in all it can hold of the vivid, the tender, the strange or the silent, but always of the beautiful.
