My Story
Sotogrande, Spain
Born in 1974
A Belgian painter, born in 1974, I now live in Sotogrande, in the south of Spain, where the Mediterranean light is a true source of inspiration.
I have always been drawn to aesthetics, to materials, shapes and the harmony of colours. I explored several forms of creation, from interior decoration to jewellery, before finding in painting my truest form of expression.
It all began almost by chance. A large canvas, a few old pots of paint and the urge to start, without really knowing what I was going to do.
I remember drawing a simple circle, which naturally turned into a little character. I could not really explain how it appeared. I had not imagined it, let alone planned it. And yet it was to become the signature of my artistic world.
That same spontaneity still guides my painting today.
Mostly self-taught, I learned by experimenting, by daring and by discovering new techniques. I love mixing materials, playing with colours, textures and reliefs.
I often work directly with my hands. I love feeling the paint on my fingers and that very particular contact with the grain of the canvas.
I like to shake up the matter, to leave room for the unexpected and for those small imperfections that make each canvas unique and alive.
A world of my own
Painting is a way of finding myself again, of calming down and stepping away, for a moment, from the turmoil of the world.
In my studio I have created my own bubble. A world that looks like me, where colours come to life, where my little people tell their stories and where love, joy and gentleness naturally find their place.
When I paint, I let myself be carried. I play, I experiment, I sometimes surprise myself. These are moments of freedom and happiness.
At first I created simply for the pleasure it gave me. Then I discovered that my paintings could also touch others, awaken emotions and bring positive energy into their daily lives.
That is what gives my work even more meaning today.
A canvas, your story
I particularly love creating bespoke works. Each commission begins with a conversation, in which I am entrusted with colour wishes, character traits, anecdotes or personal details about the people to be portrayed.
I then take pleasure in slipping these little elements into my painting, sometimes almost imperceptibly. The work naturally finds its place in a home, while keeping an intimate dimension that only those who know its story can truly decipher.
A bubble to share
My studio is also a place of encounters, exchange and sharing. I love welcoming those who wish to discover my work and the world behind my creations.
Pushing open the door of my studio is stepping a little into my world. Leaving the everyday outside and treating yourself to an interlude of colour, gentleness and lightness.
A world I first created for myself, but which I now take immense pleasure in sharing.
